BACKGROUND
The Coordinator, Biodiversity Conservation, IUCN Bangladesh has overall responsibility for the development and management of the Biodiversity Conservation thematic programme.

The Coordinator, Biodiversity Conservation is a senior member of the IUCN Bangladesh Programme Team and will play a key role in advising the Country Representative with regards to biodiversity conservation and will collaborate with the Programme Coordinator, IUCN Bangladesh and the programme team to develop the IUCN Bangladesh programme in general.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Contribute to programme development in the fields of natural resource management and biodiversity conservation at country level, through proposal development and fundraising in collaboration with the IUCN Bangladesh programme team with support and coordination from the Regional Programme Support Unit (RPSU), looking at leveraging such programmes regionally.

2. Contribute to the development of the thematic areas of IUCN’s Intersessional Programme at the country level in collaboration with the country and the regional programme teams, by exploring fundraising opportunities among development partners, private sector and pertinent networks.

3. Provide technical expertise in the fields of natural resource management and biodiversity conservation for joint project design and development, both at the country and regional levels.

4. Provide guidance and technical support to propagate technical capacity, to address issues of natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, in the country programme, and where necessary, within the overall regional programmes.

5. Develop, strengthen and maintain the relationship with GIZ as a partner, towards fundraising and exploring greater opportunities to expand the CIM programme. Support the implementation of GIZ- IUCN cooperation projects and negotiate new areas of future cooperation.

6. Participate in appropriate internal and external meetings in regional and national fora, specific global and regional working groups, task forces and advisory bodies as a technical expert.

7. Represent IUCN Bangladesh and/or the Asia Regional Programme as requested in national, regional and international fora.

8. Carry out other relevant tasks assigned by, and mutually agreed with, the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Post graduate degree in environmental sciences or development studies with focus on environment, biodiversity and/or socio-economic development

• 3-4 Years of professional experience, related to natural resources management and biodiversity and/or socio-economic development

• Professional level of knowledge in English
SALARY
The minimum gross annual salary for this position is BDT 1'292'998. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
