BACKGROUND
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Identifying prospects and sequencing gift/grant requests to maximise opportunities
• Expanding and managing the prospect list
• Conducting prospect research
• Rating prospects and prioritising gift/grant requests
• Developing and managing cultivation activities
• Overseeing prospect screening
• Meeting with programme officers from trusts and foundations to qualify their interest
• Conducting regular prospecting meetings

2. Ensuring a high volume of gift request activity
• Developing gift request strategies for individual prospects and foundations
• Preparing briefings for campaign leaders making the requests
• Supporting the various teams of volunteer leaders and staff that will be making gift requests
• Writing gift/grant request proposals
• Scheduling gift request meetings
• Documenting call reports
• Ensuring prompt and professional follow up to gift request meetings
• Developing a donor recognition programme

3. Recruiting and motivating leaders
• Supporting the identification of potential leaders for the campaign
• Supporting the development of ‘job descriptions’ for key campaign roles
• Preparing the agenda for all campaign meetings
• Logistics of campaign meetings
• Supporting and orientating campaign leaders regarding their role

4. Implementing effective stewardship
• Pledge documentation and follow up
• Donor reports
• Pledge reminders and annual giving statements
• Prospecting with current supporters as they are more likely to suggest others to join them in making IUCN: A Measurable Difference a great success

5. Producing campaign management reports that help focus and drive the effort
• Standard reports for tracking gift requests made and decisions pending
• Cash flow reports on pledges received
• Gift request reports by leader, by constituency, by timing
• Monthly progress reports on campaign activity and results, especially against quarterly benchmarks as well as the overall goal
REQUIREMENTS
  • A proven track record in fundraising with five years' minimum experience, goal oriented, attentive to detail and capable of multi-tasking.

• Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills in a multicultural environment.

• An advanced degree in international relations, business administration, marketing or a closely related field with experience in the environment and development field and/or natural resource management.

• A thorough understanding of the philanthropic sector.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English. Some knowledge of Spanish would be helpful.
