BACKGROUND
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the world’s leading conservation membership union established over 70 years ago, and composed of over 1,400 member- organizations of both government and civil society organizations with the input of more than 18,000 experts. IUCN’s mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. Through its Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA) and related global programs, IUCN is seeking to strengthen its presence in Saudi Arabia on initiatives that align with IUCN’s mission and priorities.
The drylands, livelihoods, and Gender program aims to rehabilitate the West Asian drylands (mainly rangelands) by applying nature-based solutions for improved livelihoods, enhanced biodiversity, and sustained ecosystem services production such as fodder, food, medicinal plants, water purification, and carbon sequestration. The program stresses better participatory management, gender equality, and integration of local communities. During the past 12 years, several projects were implemented in collaboration with key donors, partners, and stakeholders. In addition, the program promotes and revives the ALHima approach, which was practiced thousands of years ago by tribes. sustainable natural resources management through promoting the ALHima approach, which aims to promote the community-based management of rangelands.
The key approaches of the program are as follows:
• Sustainable rangelands management SRM: is the use of the rangeland’s resources, including soils, water, animals, and plants for the production of goods and services to meet changing human needs, while simultaneously ensuring the long-term productive potential of these resources and the maintenance of their environmental functions.

• The nature-based solutions NbS (NbS): are actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, simultaneously providing human-wellbeing and biodiversity benefits.

• Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA): is a nature-based solution that harnesses biodiversity and ecosystem services to reduce vulnerability and build resilience to climate change.
JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

IUCN – ROWA is seeking a project admin. to provide executive and administrative support and assistance for all drylands, livelihoods, and gender program projects. The position entails regular interactions with the project coordinator, experts, national administrations, and regional organizations. The project admin will be working under the direct supervision of the Project Manager/ Drylands, Livelihoods, and Gender program and will be based in Jordan, and the contract duration will be for 11 months.

Below is a description of the scope of work intended for the Project Admin Assistant:

Under the supervision of the project coordinator / Drylands, Livelihoods and Gender program at IUCN ROWA, the project admin will have the following specific duties and responsibilities:

• Assist the program and its staff in daily administrative routines that will ensure the smooth running of the office and projects.
• Provide executive and administrative support and assistance for all drylands, livelihoods, and gender program projects.
• Assist the program and its staff in all administrative duties for instance, and not limited to, writing and documenting minutes of meetings, keeping the project calendar up to date, tracking expenses, follow-up with all requisitions (RQ), and expenses claims (EC), petty cash, and all procurement-related issues as well as assist in making travel arrangements.
• Scheduling regular meetings and recording decisions (e.g. assigned tasks and next steps)
• Prepare and provide documentation to internal teams and key stakeholders.
• Assist in organizing training, workshop, and any related activities if needed.
• Assist in drafting the contracts and follow-up with consultants.
• In full coordination with the project coordinator, ensure that the project information and required reports and indicators are updated in IUCN’s project portal.
• Assist and support any other activities within the scope of the drylands, livelihoods, and gender program if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc degree in relevant fields (Administration, public relations, accounting, finance, economics) or any relevant fields.
• Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• At least 3 years of experience of related experience.
• Ability to compile large amounts of information succinctly into a coherent document for conservation practitioners and government officials.
• Strong communication and presentation skills and an ability to prepare appropriate and timely reports to a wide range of audiences and cultures.
• Time management skills including an ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
• Excellent skills in English both writing and speaking, (the Arabic language is essential).
• Demonstrated commitment to achieving the responsibilities and duties.
• A team player who is able to contribute effectively to collaborative issues, and demonstrate innovation and leadership, as appropriate.
• A good understanding of IUCN’s mission and a general attitude of being of service to others.

The above job description contains the main duties and responsibilities for this position. However, in a relatively small organization such as IUCN, staff members are expected to show flexibility in their approach to work and be willing to undertake other tasks that are reasonably allocated to them but which are not part of their regular job description. Where any task becomes a regular part of an employee's responsibilities, the job description will be changed in consultation with the employee and the Human Resources Management Group.
