BACKGROUND
This is a local position

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union bringing together governments and civil society organisations to advance sustainable development in harmony with nature. Established in 1948, IUCN has become the world’s largest environmental network, providing science-based knowledge, policy guidance, and practical solutions to address biodiversity loss, climate change, and land degradation. Through its convening power and multidisciplinary expertise, IUCN operates at the intersection of science, policy, and practice to support inclusive and resilient development pathways.

Within this mandate, IUCN is implementing the second phase of the project “Sahelian Landscapes, a Lands of Opportunity: widen Proven Furrows (LOGMe II)”, funded by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) in collaboration with the Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The project operates in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Senegal, and Benin, and aims to strengthen opportunities in the Sahelian landscape through restoration and livelihoods enhancement.

LOGMe II adopts an integrated landscape approach combining restoration, governance, knowledge generation, and stakeholder engagement to enhance resilience and green economic opportunities in the Sahel.

In this context, IUCN is recruiting Project Intern(s) to support the implementation of the LOGMe II Project in Ghana and Burkina Faso by strengthening the science–policy–practice interface.

The internship will contribute to strengthening strategic partnerships (SDG 17) for sustainable development and Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) in Burkina Faso, while enhancing environmental governance and policy coordination to advance the 2030 Agenda in Ghana.

The position offers practical experience in environmental governance, partnerships, and project coordination within a multi-country programme, while contributing to evidence-based decision-making and sustainable land management initiatives.
