Mandatory Internship - Communication Intern, Climate Change
|
IUCN’s vision is a just world that values and conserves nature. IUCN’s mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
IUCN helps the world find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges. We work on biodiversity, climate change, energy, human livelihoods and greening the world economy by supporting scientific research, managing field projects all over the world, and bringing governments, NGOs, the UN and companies together to develop policy, laws and best practice.
The Climate Change and Energy Transition Team (CCETT) leads IUCN’s global thematic work on climate change, both to limit the future impact of climate change and to help vulnerable communities and ecosystems adapt to unavoidable climate impacts. The team engages on climate issues from multiple perspectives; from assessing the risks that climate change poses to communities and biodiversity to advocating for improved climate policy and practice; advancing Nature-based Solutions for both mitigation and adaptation centred on improved conservation, management, and restoration of natural ecosystems; and guiding climate investments to avoid maladaptation and ancillary negative impacts on biodiversity and nature-dependent livelihoods.
CCETT is seeking a highly motivated intern for a six-month mandatory internship. Interns at IUCN are provided with a quality experience that combines meaningful work and learning opportunities, enabling them to gain practical skills in their chosen field of study. This role provides an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the world of Nature-based Solutions, the energy transition and climate action, gaining first-hand experience in influential conservation action and policy-making initiatives. The internship will be full-time, based out of the IUCN European Regional Office in Bonn, Germany, and for at least six months with the possibility of extension.
a) Have secured the right to live and work in Germany for the entire duration of the internship. IUCN will not provide assistance with visa or work permit applications, nor will it alter applicants' visa status.

- Undergraduate students should have completed at least one year of full-time study.
- Graduate students should be in the process of completing their degrees.
- Be enrolled in an academic program relevant to the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Terms of Reference.
Remuneration:
This is a non-paid internship. Interns or their sponsoring institutions are responsible for the costs and arrangements related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
Additional Information:
Students are encouraged to apply to their university for an Erasmus+ Internship grant: https://erasmusintern.org/content/scholarships.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the supervision of the CCET Programme Officer and reporting to the CCET Communications Manager, the Intern will support the implementation of the team’s communications strategy, including the development of high-quality communications products, social media management, and the coordination, promotion, and delivery of meetings, webinars, seminars, conferences, and other events.
