The Climate Change and Energy Transition Team (CCETT) leads IUCN’s global thematic work on climate change, both to limit the future impact of climate change and to help vulnerable communities and ecosystems adapt to unavoidable climate impacts. The team engages on climate issues from multiple perspectives; from assessing the risks that climate change poses to communities and biodiversity to advocating for improved climate policy and practice; advancing Nature-based Solutions for both mitigation and adaptation centred on improved conservation, management, and restoration of natural ecosystems; and guiding climate investments to avoid maladaptation and ancillary negative impacts on biodiversity and nature-dependent livelihoods.

CCETT is seeking a highly motivated intern for a six-month mandatory internship. Interns at IUCN are provided with a quality experience that combines meaningful work and learning opportunities, enabling them to gain practical skills in their chosen field of study. This role provides an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the world of Nature-based Solutions, the energy transition and climate action, gaining first-hand experience in influential conservation action and policy-making initiatives. The internship will be full-time, based out of the IUCN European Regional Office in Bonn, Germany, and for at least six months with the possibility of extension.

To be eligible for this internship, candidates must:

a) Have secured the right to live and work in Germany for the entire duration of the internship. IUCN will not provide assistance with visa or work permit applications, nor will it alter applicants' visa status.
b) Be enrolled in a university or equivalent tertiary institution:
- Undergraduate students should have completed at least one year of full-time study.
- Graduate students should be in the process of completing their degrees.
- Be enrolled in an academic program relevant to the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Terms of Reference.

Remuneration:
This is a non-paid internship. Interns or their sponsoring institutions are responsible for the costs and arrangements related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.

Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to research and analysis for knowledge products and policy-related documents planned under the Friends of Ecosystem-based Adaptation and the ENACT Partnership. This may include background research, reviews of existing frameworks and materials, and drafting summary, technical and policy briefs.

2. Support to the FEBA network: organisation and management of working groups, membership engagement, meeting organisation, development of newsletter and other tasks alike.

3. Contribute to activities across key workstreams, including through internal collaboration with project teams and partners, support for planning and implementation, and synthesis of emerging insights to inform delivery.

4. Coordination of project-related online and in-person meetings and workshops, including organisation, preparation activities, documentation of key outcomes, drafting outcome reports and stories and follow-up actions with team members and partners.

5. Contribute to programme development efforts, including providing input to donor-facing fundraising materials and coordinating concept development, partnership building, and internal consultations.

6. Engage with other IUCN teams and constituencies on research projects.

7. Undertake any other relevant tasks as may be assigned and mutually agreed with the supervisor, in support of broader team priorities and evolving workstreams.
