RESPONSIBILITY

Assist the Programme Manager in managing the programme implementation to a high standard, supporting the development of the projects locally and regionally and embedding it within Dry Land Programme.

The Project Coordinator reports directly to the Dry Land Programme Manager, while interfacing with other programme managers, project coordinators, finance, admin and communications staff of ROWA.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the preparation of work-plans, budgets and progress reports, ensuring quality, deadlines and submission to the donors through the Line Manager.

The PC is based in Amman and will be required to travel to project sites and other locations at least 30% of the time.


SPECIFIC TASKS

• Support the Programme Manager in the conceptual and methodological guidance of the IUCN Regional Dry Land Programme;
• Under the supervision of the programme manager HelShe will contribute to the development of and support the implementation of the projects within the Regional Dry Land Programme;
• Assist in the establishment and management of the regional, national and local networks.
• Ensure with guidance from the programme manager that each stakeholder fulfill their responsibilities in the field according to the work plans.
• Together with the core team and senior staff of partners, develop projects’ plans, methodology and guidelines that ensure that the field level interventions are planned and executed effectively and efficiently via a sustainable and replicable model.
• Under the supervision of the programmed manager he/she will make sure that all contractual obligations to the donors are met.
• Working with the PM to make sure that the projects are linked and contributing fully to ROWA’s strategy and the regional programme.
• Support the programme projects in designing and oversee the implementation of the pilot projects activities in the field.
• Accordingly, prepare the pilot projects work plans, budgets and technical progress reports and present them to the Programme Manager to be edited and reviewed.
• Helping the programme to supervise the work of the sub-contractor and ensuring deliverables are received on time.
• Support the programme to identifying new opportunities: projects, partners, approaches, and donors.
• Developing concept papers and proposals for fund raising under the supervision of the PM.
• Networking with the PM for the submission of proposals (donors, ministries and other relevant organizations).
• Participate as part of the IUCN team in development of the Strategic plans;
• Represent IUCN and network with other organizations on behalf of IUCN;
• Performing any other duties as requested by the line manager.

REQUIREMENTS

Competencies:
• Knowledge and experience of Dry land, natural resource management and rangelands , especially in a developing country context.
• Ability to deal with a range of partners and stakeholders, including protected area managers, international agencies, NGO staff and programme managers, government counterparts.
• Strong analytical ability and capacity to assess evidence and information and prioritize key elements from a case study.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to share best practice, trends, knowledge and lessons learned across units and among partners and target audiences.

Experience and skills:
• A relevant degree, preferably in agricultural, biodiversity or natural resources or equivalent.
• 3-5 years’ experience in project implementation and financial tracking, preferably with IUCN or other similar organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including ability to communicate complex issues to a wide-range of audiences.
• Ability to work independently on complex tasks on tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player within and across teams.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment in an international setting.
