BACKGROUND
The Project Officer will be an integral part of the IUCN’s Enterprise and Investment Team (EIT), which comprises a small team of staff based at IUCN Headquarters in Gland, Switzerland and in several other out-posted offices.

The IUCN EIT (formerly Business and Biodiversity Programme) was established in 2003 to influence and support private partners in addressing environmental and social issues. The Programme's work is led by a Business Engagement Strategy, approved by the IUCN Council, to engage the business sectors that have a significant impact on natural resources and livelihoods.

The P1 will provide support to the EIT in order to help the team design, develop and implement its portfolio of projects and the development of tools and approaches. In particular, he/she will produce background research and information analysis and synthesis, carry out project design, project management, relationship management, and outreach and engagement activities aimed at ensuring that IUCN’s work with the private sector is coordinated and delivered effectively.
JOB DESCRIPTION
•Support in the coordination and implementation of IUCN’s enterprise engagement initiatives. This would entail compiling progress reports from projects and synthesizing information, tracking of deliverables, and facilitation of meetings and workshops

• Development of tailored guidelines for the design and implementation of holistic programs/projects

• Conduct desk research and analysis to support implementation of EIT extractive sector projects

• Support the design and content management of websites detailing IUCN’s extractive sector focused work

• Develop agendas and support convening meetings and webinars to support implementation of EIT’s extractive sector projects

• Develop communication materials to promote IUCN’s work with the extractive sectors

• Support the organization and delivery of awareness raising and capacity building activities related to IUCN’s work with the extractives sector

• Carry out any other relevant task as assigned by the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • • An advanced university degree in a subject relevant to natural resources management, geography, international development, conservation science, environmental policy;

• • At 3 to 5 years relevant work or research experience, ideally in a relevant field;

• • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail; Experience in online research and literature reviews; Experience in analysis and synthesis of large information volume; Excellent written and spoken English and French is essential for this position.

• •A demonstrable commitment to using the opportunity of the position as a platform for professional development; A strong aptitude and ability to communicate both informally (interpersonal skills and networking) and formally;

• • Ability to work independently and deliver quality products within agreed deadlines;

• • Experience (either in a professional or academic setting) related to the role of business in biodiversity conservation;

• • Experience in organising events and experience working in a cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

• • Eligibility to live and work in Switzerland;
SALARY
The gross annual salary for this position is between CHF 86'330 and CHF 107'913, subject to deductions for social security contributions and second-pillar pension, and before tax. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
