BEST Programme Associate

This position provides support to the management of the BEST portfolio, with a focus on the BESTLIFE2030 project, and ensures that the project implementing teams operate effectively, on time, and according to the project requirements. The position works closely with the rest of the BEST team and is integral part of the IUCN Protected and Conserved Areas Team, contributing to delivering the IUCN PCA strategy.
1. Assist in successfully implementing all project activities under the programme in accordance with the agreement between the donor with guidance from the Project management;
2. Closely monitor the development and implementation timelines, record progress, and document problems and issues to be addressed and for the review and actions by the Project team;
3. Assist the project team in maintaining the relations with the project stakeholders, varying from project partners to beneficiaries of the grants at local level;
4. Support the project team in the implementation of all project activities, according to the agreed work plan;
5. Organise trainings, meetings, workshops, awareness and policy campaigns, according to the agreed project plan;
6. Conduct project management activities as assigned by the project management;
7. Prepare project reports and other committed deliverables;
8. Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Project team and IUCN PCA Team, as agreed.

• • Proven record of accomplishments in implementing projects. Experience in the field of environment and/or in the context of large organisations would be an asset. • • At least three years of professional experience with a University degree, in biodiversity conservation, international relations, or related field; • • Excellent written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of other languages is an asset and being proactive; resourceful; ability to take initiative, exercise good judgment, think laterally and resolve complex issues in a dynamic and changing environment; • • Excellent planning and organising skills, with exceptional attention to detail; • • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity; Proven interest in IUCN’s areas of work and mission; Adheres to IUCN’s core values of transparency, inclusiveness, professionalism and accountability. • • The candidate is familiar with the EU policies, procedures and rules from their professional experience; • Proven interest in IUCN’s areas of work and mission; Adheres to IUCN’s core values of transparency, inclusiveness, professionalism and accountability. • • Ability to cope with varied workload and flexible working hours, and able to implement tasks autonomously; • • The candidate has excellent written and spoken English and French; |
