BACKGROUND
ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND

TRAFFIC is the leading non-governmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions. TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes. TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.

This position is full-time, but we are open to considering exceptional candidates looking for 80% FTE.

The salary range for this position is between £45,000 to £48,000 depending on experience and skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

This position is responsible for the secure and effective operation of all internal information systems, related applications, hardware and software in use ; and for the provision of supportive leadership on shared IT systems to the organisation as a whole. The role helps guide the strategic direction of the organisation’s information management systems, whilst providing policy and guidance materials to ensure efficient and consistent use of TRAFFIC’s IT systems.

This is a coordination role and functions as a key contact internally and with external partners, for evaluation and implementation of new IT systems or applications. The Senior Manager Global Security & Information Systems is the lead contact for the organisation’s external IT support service provider – who provides both server management and desktop support.

A crucial focus for this position is risk management of cyber threats.


SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Assumes overall responsibility for and acts as a key contact for all aspects of the company’s IT infrastructure service & security, with additional technical expertise provided by an external support company
• Establishes, maintains and communicates IM processes and information security protocols;
• Produces policies, standards and controls to protect TRAFFIC data & assets
• Oversees IT risks in organisation’s risk register, responsible for reducing cyber risks for shared platforms, servers, and individual accounts
• Is responsible for TRAFFIC’s cyber incident response framework, including disaster recovery plans, incident plan, and administration of cyber insurance
• Manages the Global Office’s IT expenditure, including preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for IT
• Provides IT input into organisation’s reporting/planning processes
• Maintains good third-party relationships including with external technical support, the University of Cambridge IT Services, and CCI Services Company
• Office 365 Management - manages Office 365 users, groups MFA and Active Directory.
• Leads on implementation and deployment for the f roll out of new IT systems/software
• Manages TRAFFIC’s intranet and SharePoint environment including controlling site permissions and guidance of electronic file management
• Coordinates and delivers IT support, training, and induction for users, including producing up to date technical guidelines
• Oversees management of IT hardware assets and software register, ensuring licensing compliance and maintaining centralised logs
• Administration of domain name purchase/renewals/security
• Provides advice and guidance to support all offices in the development and procurement of IT systems , to ensure organisational compliance and risk management.


SUPERVISION

IT Administrator and any IT contractors.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Educated to at least to A' level standard, with experience in a similar role. Experience working within the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.
• Strong coordination experience of an IT function with some technical knowledge of IT services and systems,
• Professional working knowledge of Office 365, SharePoint and Windows operating systems, with experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge and experience of cybersecurity management is essential.
• Solid organisational and management abilities, experience meeting tight deadlines and working calmly and efficiently under pressure
• Proven ability to manage a high workload, multi-task efficiently and liaise with staff globally on various IT matters.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, line management experience and strong presentation skills.
• Experience producing policies and providing training to staff
• Ability to make independent decisions that demonstrate commitment to organisation and values
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong fluency in written and oral English required with fluency in other languages an advantage
• This role must be willing to be physically based in the office on a weekly basis.
• Willingness to learn and commitment to personal development and skills training
