BACKGROUND
The incumbent will be responsible for implementation of the project activities under the supervision and guidance of the Country Representative, IUCN Pakistan. It includes building meaningful and strong partnerships with project partners, with whom the project can work and make a strong impact.
JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES:
Under the overall supervision of Project Manager, Pakistan Coastal Resilience Project, the incumbent will be responsible for:
 Support the implementation of project activities in the targeted areas of the Sindh and
Balochistan coast.
 Provide facilitation in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
 Identify and mobilize the potential local communities at the project sites for participation in
project activities.
 Secure community response and ownership for sustainable coastal resource management.
 Assist and facilitate in collection of field data for further research, monitoring and reporting
 Report progress of implementation of activities in the field.
 Responsible for implementation of field activities of ecological restoration of mangroves in
target areas of the Project
 Oversee technical aspect of mangroves planting activities and nursery establishment under
the Project
 Maintain regular coordination with relevant stakeholders for plantation of mangroves in project
areas
 Support the implementation of NRM (Forestry & Ecology & Sociology) related components of
Projects.
 Oversee and support in the collection of baseline data at the project sites
 Assisting Project Manager in organizing regular meetings of National Coordinating Body
(NCB)
 Provide technical support to assess NRM, sociology and biodiversity related activities
proposed under the small grants projects, especially in water and wetlands and coastal and
marine ecosystems related fields such as land use planning, ecosystems management and in
particular the impact of climate change on NRM and coastal livelihoods
 Assisting in undertaking professional appraisal of all proposals (including budgets and
logframes) under small grants
 Undertake monitoring and evaluation of small grants projects
 Assisting Project Manager in providing funding recommendations to NCB
 Identify, promote and ensure programmatic linkages between NRM sectors and Disaster Risk
Management
 Facilitate research on biodiversity and livelihood aspects of coastal ecosystems to support the
process for the designation of Marine Protected Areas in the country
 Facilitate stakeholder coordination to support the process for the designation of Marine
Protected Areas in the country
REQUIREMENTS
  • Masters or higher degree in social sciences, environmental sciences, or related field.

• More than 5 years of demonstrated expertise and experience in coastal resource conservation and management along the coast of Sindh and Balochistan.

• English and Urdu (Knowledge of Sindh and Balochi Languages will be added value)
