BACKGROUND
This is a local recruitment. Only Thai nationals, individuals with residence status or the appropriate employment visa for Thailand are eligible to apply. The remuneration and benefits package for this position is established with reference to the local labour market and in line with the IUCN conditions of service for Thailand.
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Regional Communications Officer will help deliver communications strategies for projects which are regional in reach, and will experience working with dynamic, multi-cultural teams across Asia.


SPECIFIC DUTIES:

PROGRAMMATIC COMMUNICATIONS

• Implement IUCN Asia strategic plan for communications with the goal of raising the profile of the organization among key target audiences, support fundraising and external relations, and maximise policy impact.
• Provide IUCN brand management and communications quality control in the Asia Region and ensure staff understand and adhere to communications guidelines and protocols.
• Provide technical support to Communication Focal Points in Country Offices and regional projects, in close collaboration with the Head of Communications, Asia.
• Manage regional media relations and public relations efforts, including at major regional and global events.
• In collaboration with the Head of Communications, Asia develop and produce a range of high-quality online, digital and printed knowledge assets in support of IUCN Asia’s programmatic objectives.
• Oversee and manage production processes including sub-contracting.
• Lead internal communications initiatives within IUCN Asia region which will build team spirit and align all staff behind the region’s strategic vision and programmatic objectives.
• Manage IUCN Asia website and social media accounts.
• Monitor and evaluate all aspects of communications activities and provide reports on a regular basis.

PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS

• Implement communications and outreach activities for regional projects.
• Produce high quality communications products in a range of formats including reports, publications, brochures, policy briefs, web stories, press releases, short films, and manage websites and knowledge assets, in conformity with all IUCN branding and other guidelines.
• Provide communications support for events.
• Monitor and evaluate communications activities and provide regular reporting according to work plans of projects.


PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENT

• Assist in supporting the implementation of a regional Business and Biodiversity strategy for the Asia region in collaboration with country offices.
• Assist in providing effective coordination for all business engagements across the region, ensuring that there are adequate approval processes, and that private sector partner contracts meet IUCN standards.
• Assist in directing all communications and publicity efforts related to private sector relationships.
• Assist in supporting capacity building of countries to use the private sector engagement guidelines and to undertake the risk and opportunity screening process for new private sector engagement.
• Maintaining and update the database of private sector engagements in Asia on a regular basis and establish a system for tracking new private sector engagements in Asia.
• Assist in conducting due diligence on regional private sector engagements as needed.
• Providing support for management of regional private sector projects.

OTHERS

• Carry out any other relevant tasks as required by, and mutually agreed with, your line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 5 years relevant professional experience;

• A degree in communications/journalism/PR or related field. Post graduate qualifications would be an asset;

• An understanding of current conservation issues;

• Ability to work effectively with diverse multicultural and multidisciplinary teams;

• Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of other Asian languages is a distinct advantage;

• Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and experienced with print, multi-media and web-based design software.
