BACKGROUND
JOB DESCRIPTION
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plan and implement the MARPLASTICCs in the region ensuring a daily programme management and coordination of activities.

2. Liaise regularly with the central coordination team and report on progress;
3. Provide project progress updates and detailed implementation information for the MARPLASTICCs Steering Committee meetings.

4. Coordinate the planning and organisation of regional meetings during the implementation of the project; and create the necessary linkages and partnerships with the relevant national and international institutions in the region.

5. Coordinate and track deliverables of consultants in region including ensuring necessary final approvals.

6. Assess and report on project results from the region based on the relevant measurement indicators and processes for reporting to Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

7. Manage the budget and allocation of project resources ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in liaison with finance department.

8. Assist Communication officer on communication material, project webpages and event preparation.

9. Identify additional funding sources to further scale up the plastics programme in the region.

10. Monitor and report on project progress by regularly informing the monitoring matrix for the activities in the region.

11. Represent IUCN at relevant meetings in the region.

12. Connect and liaise with other relevant projects in the region including the SIDA Marine and Coastal resilience project for supporting synergies.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Master degree in environmental sciences, sustainable development or any other discipline that is relevant to nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources;

• Proven, knowledge and experience in marine conservation marine ecosystems resilience, waste management or circular economy is considered a great asset.

• Excellent written and spoken English skills (other languages are an asset);

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;

• Good organizational, administrative, reporting and communication skills;

• A motivated self-starter with an ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs;

• A team player with a strong interest to work in an international environment;
