BACKGROUND
Under the supervision of the Regional Finance Manager and in collaboration with IUCN ROWA team, especially Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant assists in daily financial operations and day to day accounting transactions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND
Under the supervision of the Regional Finance Manager and in collaboration with the IUCN ROWA team, the Finance Assistant assists in daily financial operations and is responsible for day to day accounting transactions.

Specific Tasks
1. Finance and accounting
a. Receipts
• Record all receipts on a daily basis
b. Petty cash
• Record petty cash transactions
c. Travel Authorisations and Expense Claim
• Review expense claims for compliance with travel policy and post expense claims in the finance system
• Regularly review and clean up travel commitments in the system.
d. Payment process
• Enter purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier invoices and follow-up to ensure correctly approved and processed
• Regularly review and make adjustments to open requisitions, when necessary
• Prepare weekly payments
• Run e-banking payment process
• Prepare manual cheques for suppliers not paid through e-banking
e. Intercompany
• Review, accept and post incoming intercompany transactions
• Generate and send outgoing intercompany transactions
f. Journals
• Post journals in relation to implementing partners
• Prepare and post time sheet journals and indirect cost recovery charges
• Prepare and post other journals, ensuring they are correctly approved
g. Payroll and staff accounts
• Prepare and post payroll transactions
• Manage staff vendor accounts balances and initiate payments due to staff and collections of money owed by staff to IUCN

2. Month-end and year-end close
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing process according to established checklists

3. Audit support
• Assist with preparing documentation for auditors for interim and final audit transaction testing and assist with providing analysis

4. Other tasks
• Ensure that all documents related to financial transaction are routinely and methodically filed


QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a strong background in Finance and accounting with:
• A degree in accounting and financial management, or other appropriate experience and qualifications.
• Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in accounting and daily book keeping and treasury management in international organizations or NGOs with a project portfolio
• Very Good knowledge and expertise of financial activities such as payments and records keeping and financial management.
• Excellent Technical competence in using computer and MS Office applications (mainly MS Excel and MS Word) and e-banking applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
• Service orientated and ability to work effectively with others across the organization
