This is a local recruitment. Only Myanmar nationals, individuals with residence status or the appropriate employment visa for Myanmar are eligible to apply. The remuneration and benefits package for this position is established with reference to the local labour market and in line with the IUCN conditions of service for Myanmar.

The Senior Technical Officer will closely work with the Head of Office to provide technical assistance in implementing project activities. The Senior Technical Officer - will provide technical inputs and manage project activities according to his/her field of expertise. The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Technical:
Provide technical inputs and manage the technical delivery of project activities through:
Work in close collaboration with internal counterparts and external counterparts in Gulf of Mottama Project (GoMP) and oversee the planning and implementation of GoMP project.
Lead the establishment of the GoMRA and develop the GoMRA constitution.
Support the development of advocacy strategy for fund-raising of the GoMRA.
Support the implementation of IUCN Myanmar project activities and research activities under the supervision of the line manager.
Ensure that project activities are fully aligned with the project outcomes and outputs.
Communicate with project stakeholders including meetings with relevant partners and communities
Cooperate and support IUCN ARO in regional projects that are related to afforestation and reforestation.
Conduct regular filed visits to the project sites to follow-up on the implementation of the community forestry activities.
Coordinate project activities with stakeholders within and outside the relevant government agency and with communities at the township and local level.
Ensure that all ethnic minorities and disadvantaged groups are adequately informed and consulted, invited to consultation meetings, and that language is not a barrier.
Ensure that women and men are provided equal opportunities in terms of participation and decision-making throughout the identification, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities implemented by the project.
Collect sex disaggregated data and information and incorporate these into the project’s
monitoring, evaluation and reporting process.
Assess potential social impacts (direct and indirect) that may result from project interventions and activities, and where identified, develop mitigation measures to avoid negative impacts or compensation.
Prepare personal monthly work plans and reports, detailed activity plans and budgets for project field activities, and field mission/ workshop reports.
Provide implementation support to project partners where required
Facilitate and assist visit by the project donor, government officials and consultants in their studies, meetings and program activities including translating and interpreting, where necessary.
Managing project funds for field operations and taking responsibility for expenditures of project funds and reporting field expenditure
Translating project outputs form English to Burmese and vice versa required
Support the Head of Office to other tasks of IUCN Myanmar Projects

Institutional Tasks
Ensure that project offices and field operations are conducted to a high level of health, safety, integrity, environmental good practice and cultural sensitivity. This includes ensuring that field medical kits are in good order and taken out on every field trip.
Ensure project activities are in line with IUCN’s Environmental and Social Management System
(ESMS) and the recommendations of the Social Impact Assessment conducted during the project design phase.
Ensure that IUCN policies and guidelines are followed within the implementation of project activities.
Represent IUCN Myanmar in external and internal IUCN meetings at national levels, as needed.

Carry out any other duties you may be called upon to perform from time to time by your supervisor.
