TRAFFIC is the leading non-governmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions. TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes. TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.

TRAFFIC recently secured Global Environment Facility funding in Thailand, via UNDP, to manage a suite of activities to reduce consumer demand for illegal wildlife products. This post will act as the key focal point for the work, liaising closely with various external and project stakeholders based in Thailand, as well as other TRAFFIC team members, including the Asia Senior Programme Director, and TRAFFIC’s Behavioural Change Coordinator, based in Cambridge, UK.


• Responsible for successful delivery of, TRAFFIC’s work under GEF 6 funding in Thailand, including through close coordination with other partners in country; the UNDP Project Manager, the Project Steering Group; and broader Social and Behaviour Change Community of Practice members
• Ensure best practice behavioural change approaches are delivered by the project, and achieve measurable impact in reducing the demand for illegal wildlife products
• Lead on project management related to the project, with a focus delivering activities according to the project Workplan, M&E framework and reporting requirements for both technical and financial elements, and providing quality assurance that activities are being delivered on time and on budget, initiating adaptive management actions when required.
• Ensuring learning is shared with the SBCC Community of Practice, through liaison with other members of the TRAFFIC behaviour change team, based in UK, Thailand and Malaysia.
• Integrating the project work with TRAFFIC’s wider portfolio of work on behavioural change.
  • Academic qualifications in behavioural science, communications, social science, development studies or other relevant fields;
• At least 5 years of experience of social and behavioural change communications;
• An understanding of the international context of illegal wildlife trade, and how it relates to Thailand;
• Demonstrated ability to work with government agencies, ideally with experience in Thailand;
• Native Thai speaker, with excellent spoken and written English language skills;
• Good project management skills;
• Able to work collaboratively as a team, coordinating with colleagues based remotely, as well as in country;
• A strong team player who is able to work able to work on own initiatives and be a self-directed lateral thinker; and
• Experience with UNDP procedures is a strong advantage.
