Senior Programme Assistant, FAO

This position will be based at Cox's Bazar.
Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative and the Programme Coordinator of IUCN Bangladesh, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer of ‘Floral Diversity Assessment of Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division, SMART Patrolling Guideline Formulation and Watershed Management Policy Review Project’, the Senior Programme Assistant will be part of a diversified team and will be responsible for assisting the project manager in implementing all the project activities in the light of the Letter of Agreement (LoA) between FAO and IUCN.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative and the Programme Coordinator of IUCN Bangladesh, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer, the Senior Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following matter related to the project:
1.Assist the Senior Programme Officer in data collection from the fields on SMART patrolling, Floral assessment, watershed policy matters;
2.Assist in preparing handbook and/or guideline on SMART patrolling;
3.Assist in piloting SMART patrolling interventions in the field;
4.Support the biodiversity expert during the floral assessment of the project site;
5.Organize field teams or volunteers to conduct field surveys;
6.Support Senior Programme Officer during the development of biodiversity book (Flora);
7.Assist in preparing the draft outline of Watershed management policy;
8.Assist in organizing different project events (e.g. discussions, meetings, workshops, training sessions, knowledge sharing events, and promotional opportunities for the project);
9.Organize capacity building activities for Bangladesh Forest Department staffs, Community Patrol Group (CPG) members of the Co-Management Committee (CMC);
10.Assist the Senior Programme Officer in preparing project documents and reports, including donor reports, event reports, case studies, fact-sheets, and web-stories;
11.Organize field trips in consultation with project manager;
12.Assist the project team members, and the programme development unit of IUCN Bangladesh in project development;
13.Provide support to the other projects of IUCN Bangladesh;
14.Ensure that IUCN’s and FAO’s policies and mandates as outlined in the LoA is duly complied with in all project activities; and
15.Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Programme Coordinator and the Project Manager of IUCN Bangladesh, from time to time.

• Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, Marine Science, Agriculture, Natural Resources management or other related fields with at least 2 years' professional experience relevant to the assignment as defined in the terms of reference, or; • University degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, Marine Science, Agriculture, Natural Resources management or other related fields with at least 3 years' professional experience; • Demonstrated experience in Programme Management, Operation Management Cycle and related processes, with knowledge of Results-Based Management are essential; • Computer skills (in MS office) including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data management, etc). is important; • Good presentation, writing and spoken communication skills in English and Bangla are essential. |
