Programme Officer – Ecosystem based Adaptation

The incumbent will undertake the following tasks:
1.Support FEBA activities including policy influencing and production of related products; coordinate FEBA knowledge sharing through managing the FEBA website, facilitate meetings, and coordinate multi-agency policy and information processes; facilitate FEBA knowledge generation an dissemination (through e.g. technical papers, newsletter, SBSTA and COP side events, post-COP analyses, etc.)
2.Coordinate the work being done in in on-ground implementation of ecosystem-based adaptation such as in countries including Nepal, Peru, Uganda, Bhutan, Colombia, and Kenya. This would entail compiling progress reports from country offices and synthesizing information, tracking of deliverables, and facilitation of meetings and workshops.
3.Coordinate the work being done in strengthening evidence and informing policy for EbA. This would also entail compiling progress reports and synthesizing information, planning and execution of workshops and events, communications, and drafting and publication of technical papers.
4.Coordinate IUCN engagement in partnerships including PEDRR, the UN Community of Ocean Action for Mangroves, and the Global Mangrove Alliance, e.g. leading communications, serving as the global contact point for country and regional offices, and reviewing joint technical papers, and tracking deliverables.
5.Support the preparatory work on technical/position papers on EbA.
6.Assist in the EbA webpage maintenance, including uploading relevant material.
7.Carry out any other relevant task as assigned by, and agreed with, the line manager.
• 3-5 years relevant work experience in fields related to ecosystem management, environmental policy advocacy, climate change policy, international development, and/or environmental science. • A relevant university degree (preferably a graduate degree) in a subject relevant to natural resources management, geography, international development, conservation science, environmental policy, etc. • Well-developed computer skills (Word for Windows, Excel, e-mail); • Good organizational, administrative and reporting skills; • Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously; • Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs; • Highly motivated to learn and develop new skills, keen to bring in own ideas; • Excellent interpersonal skills; Proven ability to work harmoniously as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity; • Excellent written and spoken English required. Excellent editing skills will be highly desirable. |
