BACKGROUND
THIS IS A LOCALLY RECRUITED POSITION.

Background;

This position will manage specific communications activities for the Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa (IUCN ESARO) in addition to providing administrative and technical implementation support to projects.

In particular, this position will support the IUCN communications unit with developing, disseminating, and monitoring performance of content, especially for social media and the corporate website. She/he will assist also on communication support to projects implemented by the different programmes of IUCN-ESARO, namely, with photography, basic videography, graphic design and content creation for social media.

The Position may provide support to other Communications needs for the IUCN-ESARO Office
JOB DESCRIPTION
Specific Responsibilities;

The Communications intern will help IUCN-ESARO supporting specific corporate communication and project activities. Specific tasks will include photography, social media content creation, basic videography, graphic design and documentation of case studies / success stories.

Assist IUCN-ESARO presence on social media (Facebook, Twitter Instagram, LinkedIn) with the development and dissemination of a weekly content programme based on corporate and project activities, as well, as monthly monitoring of results.

Support specific campaigns on social media to increase the number of followers and outreach, using info-graphics, micro-videos, or animated gifs, including identifying and following key influencers in the region.

Support in graphic design and elaboration of social media and web content of IUCN-ESARO projects.

Monitor and moderate comments on social media posts, intervening as appropriate to answer questions and guide the conversation.

Assisting with day to day administration tasks.

Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience and competencies;

Holding or in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Communications or a related field. If pursuing, the applicant should be in their final year.

Background and/or experience working in communication, or any other related field will be an asset.

Experience using advanced tools for online publishing, including content management systems (such as WordPress), social media analytics and social media authoring tools like Hootsuite, TweetDeck, etc;

Experience in professional photography and basic videography.

Experience using graphic design software.

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Strong motivation and interpersonal skills; excellent communication
