The Senior Marine Project Officer is responsible for supporting multiple aspects of the management and implementing of the IUCN-ORO Marine Team’s projects including ensuring continuity in workflows that pertains to project work across partner countries, supporting, especially Fiji’s marine conservation efforts including building a national network of marine protected areas and providing technical advice on marine spatial planning and marine protected areas identification, implementation and management across partner countries. Partner countries, to date, include Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu. The position will contribute to the management and reporting including on funds granted to IUCN-ORO to help achieve the marine projects’ outcomes and outputs.

Specific Duties
•Contribute to the preparation and formulation of marine project proposals (including, GCF, GEF, Oceans 5 and EU-EDF11) to mobilise resources.
•Help with the preparation and management of contracts for over 30 different deliverables across multiple projects and multiple countries.
•Leading missions to Pacific Island countries to progress delivery of project outputs on marine spatial planning, policy and marine protected areas.
•Represent IUCN ORO’s interests at high-level and national and regional meetings as necessary.
•Ensuring maintenance of workflows within the Suva office of IUCN-ORO’s marine team, under the supervision of IUCN ORO’s Marine Programme Coordinator.
•Assist with the day-to-day management of staff of the marine team in the Fiji office.
•Represent the marine team at senior meetings within ORO, such as the Regional Program Coordination and Senior Management Advisory Team meetings as necessary.
•Assist with the development, implementation and management of IUCN-ORO’s Marine Program contracts both within and outside of Fiji.
•Provide technical advice upon and inputs to project outputs, including reports and communication materials.
•Support the Marine Programme Coordinator to maintain linkages with other regional and national institutions and projects dealing with coastal and marine resource management issues.
•In collaboration with the Marine Programme Coordinator provide quarterly and annual written reports on the delivery of planned project outputs.
•As directed, support countries in the delivery of project outcomes, with particular regard to the Marine Spatial Planning and Marine Protected Area aspects of the work.
•Help ensure all donor and IUCN administrative requirements and protocols are addressed by the Marine Team at ORO, under the supervision of IUCN-ORO’s Marine Programme Coordinator
•Contribute to, and help monitor the progress of, projects in relation to milestones set out in annual work plans and identifies and addresses issues that need attention.
