I. Executive support (Policy & Special Projects)
•Support coordination of special projects as deemed necessary by the Regional Director;
•Support programmes and projects with special projects which include but not limited to seminars, conferences, and regional or national projects as required of the RD office;
•Support the Strategic Advisor on Fundraising and Partnerships with the engagement of potential donors for special projects and programmes;
•Support implementation of new initiatives and projects;
•Liaise with national, regional and international partners and members on potential partnerships on special projects;
•Support strategic planning – advice process and undertake policy planning and initiatives for the realization of organizational vision and programmes;
•Interface for RD internally and externally [stakeholders, non-government organizations, and partners, dignitaries and maintain relations with host Government, Fiji
•Represent Regional Director in engagements as RD deems necessary;
II. Strategic support
•Support the Strategic Advisor in Fundraising & Partnerships with project development, institutional support, resource mobilisations and partnerships;
•Work with the Strategic Partnership Officer on Fundraising & Partnerships with operational component of GCF and GEF;
•Support project development and design relating to GEF operational aspects of GEF activities, such as project cycles, concept and PIF processes and proposals, ensuring consistency with national plans and priorities and facilitating GEF coordination, integration, and consultation at country level.
•Support the development of the IUCN project portfolio for submission to GEF;
•Contribute strategic and operational advice to IUCN Oceania Programmes and IUCN Members in the development and design of eligible GEF projects;
Recruitment & Retention of Members
•Liaise and communicate with interested organizations on how to apply to become a Member of the Union; including following through with application processes;
•Ensure details and requirements for membership application is complete and submitted to UDG; Circulate Membership applications and decisions of Council and Bureau;
•Link new members to programme staff for possible engagements in activities, programmes and projects.
•Ensure that regional members are well represented at the Worlds Conservation Congress and related Congresses and related events;
•Manage CRM and update details and membership requirements constantly;
•Manage and update Union portal
Governance, Regional Forum, Congress & Commissions
•Support the IUCN Union Development Group Governance team in distributing communications relevant to members at the regional and national committees;
•Coordinate regional membership forums and activities including the Oceania Regional Conservation Forum;
•Support the World Conservation Congress where needed;
•Provide support to the Commission focal points on a needs by needs basis;
National and regional committees - In close collaboration with Regional Director and directors provide support and information that National and Regional Committees will require to function efficiently;
• A graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Environmental Science / Management, Development Studies, International Relations, Governance.
• At least 5 years of experience in partnership development and relationship management or in a relevant field.
• Proficient in using office applications (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and other web-based management systems.
• Fluent English (verbal/written) with excellent communication and presentation skills
• Capacity to interact effectively with a wide range of people at different levels including donors, the private sector, NGOs, and government officials.
• Ability to travel when required.
