BACKGROUND
This is a local recruitment. Only Thai nationals, individuals with residence status, or the appropriate employment visa for Thailand are eligible to apply. The remuneration and benefits package for this position is established with reference to the local labour market and in line with the IUCN conditions of service for Thailand.

The IUCN Thailand Country Programme (THP) is a unit under the IUCN Indo-Burma Group (IBG) based at IUCN Asia Regional Office, Bangkok. The programme was established in 2001.

IUCN THP is working on a growing portfolio focus on marine and coastal resources management, marine plastic pollution, business and biodiversity; nature-based solutions; Ecosystem-based adaptation and climate change mitigation; wildlife trafficking; species and ecosystem; conservation and community participation in the conservation and governance of protected areas and World Heritage sites.

The position of Biodiversity and Business Engagement Officer (BBEO) will implement and manage 3 private sector related projects; Toyota, Dow and Coca-Cola/Phase 4. This position will be full time to support strategic plan development for Biodiversity and Business Engagement, Thailand Programme.
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Head of Office (HoO), Thailand Program, the BBEO will:
- Implement the IUCN Thailand’s biodiversity and business engagement projects including ensuring effective planning, delivery, and M&E; Coca-Cola project, Toyota-BDNA project and DOW Thailand Mangrove Alliance project.
- Provide technical support and assist the HoO developing new project concepts and proposals that are aligned with IUCN Thailand’s programme areas and strategic themes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Project Development and implementation
• Assist the HoO in developing biodiversity and business engagement projects and developing strategic priorities on business engagement for Thailand Programme.
• Ensure effectiveness of project implementation, including financial management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, coordination with project partners
• Ensure the success of workshops, meeting and training sessions of the projects
• Facilitate meetings and technical discussion among different stakeholders on relevant projects;
• In close collaboration with other IUCN Thailand programme members, support the Head of Office with the collation and submission of project monthly reports and technical reports required by the donors
• Ensure project visibility among different stakeholders and government
• Maintain relationships with government, NGOs and other civil sector partners, as well as with members of the international community.

Project Planning, Monitoring and Reporting
• Ensure the development of good quality strategic and annual plans of the biodiversity and business engagement projects.
• Assist the HoO on the development and regular monitoring of programme and project work plans.
• Assist the HoO to ensure the effective and timely planning and delivery of project activities as well as integration of other projects to strengthen IUCN's reputation and mission.
• Produce web-stories, newsletters and other communication materials of assigned projects
• Ensure strong links between communications/knowledge management and programme coordination and delivery.
• Contribute to information sharing, lessons learning and documentation of projects and Thailand programme experiences
• Provide support in all proposal process and ensure that the compliance with the policies is adhered

Networking, relationship building and communications:
• Assist HoO to develop project concepts and proposals to mobilize financial resources from business partners
• Under supervision of HoO, engage other partners to leverage funding for the BDNA and DOW biodiversity and business platform managed by IUCN
• Under supervision of HoO, engage private sectors to leverage funding for IUCN’s project implementation.
• Lead in building strong partnership with private sector, donors and stakeholders for the biodiversity and business engagement projects
• Lead the development of in-house networks of thematic expertise which draw upon both regional and national level;
• Maintain regular contacts with IUCN Members, Commission members and partners and relevant stakeholders.

Institutional tasks
• Represent in external and internal IUCN meetings, at national, regional and international levels, as needed.
• Undertake any other tasks as may be assigned by, and mutually agreed with the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • University degree in development studies, biodiversity conservation and natural resource management, sustainability and business administration.

• Five years of experience in programme/project coordination and implementation.

• Knowledge of business sustainability, engagement in conservation and climate finance would be advantageous.

• Experience delivering business engagement in conservation initiatives, and proven ability to manage projects, demonstrating understanding on applying sustainability theory in business practices.

• Strong project management, organisational skills and ability to manage projects with several stakeholders, government agencies and private sector donors.

• Willingness to learn network meeting design and facilitation skills.

• Strong-communicator, must be fluent in Thai and English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills.

• A strong team player who can work on own initiative and be a self-directed lateral thinker.

• Proficiency in the use of Internet-based communications platforms (Google Docs) and MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other web-based management systems.
