BACKGROUND
TRAFFIC is the leading non-governmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions. TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes. TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.

We welcome applications for part-time work on a minimum of 28 hours per week.

The salary for this position is £22,500 - £24,000 dependent on experience (pro rata for part time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

This position is to assist the Information and Communications Systems Manager with administrative tasks and some practical IT functions. TRAFFIC UK office has 45-50 staff based in Cambridge, but also has the responsibility to support the internal communications, shared platform and 365 software of staff in all offices worldwide. The Cambridge office has desktop support and server support provided by an external IT Support Company, but there are some IT tasks that can only be managed onsite.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Support internal communications development under direction from Information
Manager
• Set up new 365 user accounts
• Close down accounts of leavers, back up accounts for temporary archiving
• Inductions for new staff, supporting onboarding activities of new team members
• Be a point of call for ‘user account’ issues e.g account lockout, password changes
• Keep records of staff changes and update intranet of staff changes
• Purchasing hardware, peripherals, raise purchase orders
• Prepare receipts from credit card statements and update expenditure against budget
• Update hardware and software asset register
• Install Windows and basic software on laptops, new or re-provisioned
• Be a point of call for our external IT desktop support company
• Help provide training (often via Teams) on supported platforms and services
• Creation of guidance tools either reference sheets or short videos or web FAQs
• Edit SharePoint pages of intranet, set up new pages, subsites
• Liaise with University on Printing issues and university accounts for wifi
• Provide basic support of our comms systems in shared meeting rooms, occasionally assist as tech support in large virtual/hybrid meetings
• Set up users on partner WWF Intranet
REQUIREMENTS
  • A good level of proficiency in MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
• Useful, experience in using SharePoint and MS365, but training can be given
• Useful knowledge Windows settings, but training can be given
• Strong organisational, coordination and administration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time
• Need to be confident with basic IT skills
• Strong communication skills to ensure correct information conveyed
• Have the confidence to pick up new skills
• Possess an enthusiastic and approachable personality
• Be self-motivated and have a pro-active approach to problem-solving


• This role is not eligible for a work visa, so all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
