BACKGROUND
IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature mobilizes people and networks to develop and use conservation knowledge for human well-being. Knowledge is at the core of its work, and the management of knowledge is of crucial importance to the achievement of its objectives and mission. IUCN’s Information Management Group plays a key role in that effort by supporting the worldwide project initiatives of the Union and by making the Union’s knowledge widely accessible both internally and externally.

Job Description

The Systems Administrator will be responsible to manage IUCN systems, such as the Enterprise Resource Planning, SharePoint Portal, Office Communicator and Microsoft Office applications. This role is critical to support IUCN’s staff and other members of the Union in their day-to-day usage of core IUCN systems. As part of the Information Management Group, the Systems Administrator works closely with the Head of Information Management, Information Management Team, staff, members/commissions and consultants on the support of these critical systems.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Manage staff needs for the Enterprise Resource Planning system, including training, quality assurance/testing and handling the escalation of issues to the vendor for support.

2. Manage the SharePoint Portals, including security/access, design and implementation of new functionality to the Portals.

3. Manage Office Communicator with the Senior System Network Engineer to support the Union for their communication needs.

4. Manage other applications, such as Microsoft Office, which are integrated into both the Enterprise Resource Planning and SharePoint Portal.

5. Work with Information Architects to design and implement web portlets for Portals.

6. Work with Information Management Team to develop tools to support the team.

7. Work with Information Architects to design and implement Global Helpdesk application.

8. Provide training as needed on IUCN systems.

9. Work in a collaborative team environment with Infrastructure Team to support project initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
  • First degree in Computer Sciences or other IT related field

• 3-4 years experience in management of Microsoft related products (SharePoint, Office Communicator, Dynamics, Office etc.) is required

• Experience of working with Microsoft SQL 2008 server is desirable

• Availability to lead, support and influence achievements of goals

• Ability to establish and enforce software/hardware standards for networking

• Ability to train staff members on the use of ERP related applications

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Experience of working on help desk is desired

• Ability to work in a multicultural global team is essential

• Candidates should be fluent in spoken and written English, French and Spanish (which are the three official languages of IUCN)
SALARY
The gross annual salary for this position is between CHF 86'330 and CHF 107'913, subject to deductions for social security contributions and second-pillar pension, and before tax. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
