Partnerships and Grants Management Officer
|
IUCN runs several thematic programmes within the Washington D.C. Office, including initiatives related to ecosystem-based adaptation, forest landscape restoration, gender, economics and social science, and biodiversity assessments. Through fundraising and other lines of work, we support the development and implementation of the IUCN Red List, Key Biodiversity Areas, and the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) for Business.
The Washington D.C. Office has built strong relationships with U.S. funders – including government agencies, charitable foundations, and philanthropists – to support the work of IUCN and its partners and Members worldwide. One relationship of note is that with IUCN-US, a U.S.-based, 501(c)(3) charitable organisation that is legally distinct from IUCN. By partnering with IUCN-US, IUCN is better able to channel U.S. funding opportunities to the Union.
The Partnerships and Grants Management Officer will support the IUCN and IUCN-US with the coordination of donor reporting and quality control, communications, and partnership development in the U.S. This position will require professional interaction with a wide variety of conservation and development professionals in many different organizations. It will include assisting with the screening of project proposals submitted to US funders, as well as ensuring timely delivery of quality reports to funders, including private foundations, individuals, corporations and U.S. Government agencies.

• Ensure communications from the IUCN Secretariat to US funders are coordinated and strategic, both before and after funding is received.
• Support fundraising tasks of the DC Office Director, as needed.
2. Grants Management
• Maintain electronic and paper grants management systems and calendars (for IUCN and IUCN-US), including the Constituency Relationship Management (CRM).
• Maintain all pertinent records, files and documents in parallel electronic and hard copy formats; assure completeness and accuracy consistent with external and internal audit requirements.
• Prepare, review, and oversee grant agreements, ensuring internal contract review procedures are followed as designated by IUCN’s legal department.
• Review IUCN’s narrative and financial reporting to donors.
• Provide monthly status updates of grant deliverables (prior month and upcoming month) to Senior Finance Manager and the Director, DC Office.
• Prepare and deliver thank you/acknowledgement letters to donors.
• Provide administrative support for IUCN-US board meetings: compile reports and materials for biannual IUCN-US Board Meetings and mid-year report, and attend IUCN-US Board meetings, take notes, and prepare minutes.
• Maintain up-to-date registrations for IUCN DC and IUCN-US, including but not limited to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), U.S. Private Voluntary Organization Status (PVO), System for Award Management (SAM), and Grants.gov, state charity registrations, and Guidestar.
