Project Officer

RESPONSABILITIES
-Participate in the development of yearly LPA Plan of Action (POA) and its implementation;
-Provide strategic oversight for IUCN projects, operations, reporting and budget;
- Provide technical support for the implementation of LPA project which includes (not limited to) yearly work plan, assist in financial and administrative management, project implementation, prepare audit documentation and reporting using IUCN portals and according to IUCN guidelines and procedures.
- Develop, articulate and implement projects in accordance with IUCN’s standards, procedures and quality management processes, and in coordination with relevant programme staff, Members, Commissions and partners, keeping with the "One Programme" approach, including identifying fundraising opportunities.
- Produce communication material about the project activities, facilitating reporting, assessment and disclosure of IUCN activities in Portuguese and English and possibly Spanish.
- Provide direct support GIZ and ICLEI for the implementation of the LPA project as the IUCN reference person
- Provide technical support to IUCN Brazil Country Office in close coordination with the IUCN Protect Area Programme and linking with other IUCN projects and programmes.
- Enhance networking, relationship building and communications between IUCN and strategic partners, including local government, local implementing partners and members, plus project management support for IUCN Brazil Country Office.
- When requested, represent the IUCN Brazil Country Office at national, regional and international events mainly of Protected Area agenda.
This is a fix term contract (until December 18) with clear intention of renewing for up to three years depending on professional performance and funding availability.

• Preferable, Master’s Degree or Post-graduation Degree in Natural Resources, Forest, Conservation, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field. • At least 5 years of progressive work experience in the protected areas agenda in Brazil on an environmental programme development/management base; • At least 5 years of progressive work experience in project management, including financial and technical oversightor protected areas. • Fluent in Portuguese and English (verbal/written) with excellent communication and presentation skills. Spanish is desirable; plus proficient in using office applications (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and other web-based management systems. • Experience with GIZ Projects, Protect Areas in Brazil or National System of Conservation Units (SNUC) is a plus. |
