IUCN in Lao PDR
In 1969, Lao PDR's Ministry of Foreign Affairs became a state member of IUCN and in 1992 the IUCN Lao PDR Country Office was established in Vientiane. IUCN Lao PDR falls within Lower Mekong Region Country Group, a management unit of the IUCN in the Asia region, under the umbrella of the global IUCN.
The IUCN Lao PDR country programme is guided by its overarching programme goal:
To ensure that the ecosystems and natural resources of Lao PDR are effectively conserved and sustainably utilised in an equitable manner that contributes to the socio-economic development of the country.
• Assist Head of Office in daily office and program related tasks (drafting press releases, compiling monthly reports, arranging photos and other relevant duties when required);
• Assist Programme Secretary in organising the library for IUCN Lao PDR Country Office;
• Assist logistical arrangements for meetings and workshops and field trips as required;
• Provide administrative support and services for the office in running Visa Application, Extension and ID Cards for all expatriates;
• Provide logistical assistance as required by Programme Secretary and other Programme staff;
• Assist Programme Secretary with obtaining documents for IUCN Lao staff and visitors;
• Deliver mail and other office documents to Government institutions, international organizations and others;
• Any other relevent duties which may be assigned from time to time.

• Good communication, inter-personal and organizational skills. • Good written and spoken Lao and English. • Higher education and/or experience in environmental conservation field is required. • Reliable, punctual, honest and friendly. • Interest in assisting volunteers and interns from diverse backgrounds, being courteous, professional, patient and respectful at all times. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). |
