BACKGROUND
The incumbent will support the Climate Change Team based in Washington, DC in tasks related to the implementation of several global-scale climate change adaptation and sustainable development projects. He or she will provide assistance in reviewing technical documents, communications, and donor deliverables; and in ensuring the timely coordination of activities and reports among IUCN and partner offices.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The incumbent will undertake the following tasks:

a)Assist in coordinating the work being done under the Scaling Up Mountain Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA) project (Nepal, Peru, Uganda, Bhutan, Colombia, & Kenya). This would entail compiling progress reports and synthesizing info into one joint report.
b)Assist in coordinating the work being done under the project preparation phase of Community-Based Adaptation: Scaling up Community Action for Livelihoods and Ecosystems in Southern Africa and Beyond (Project Preparation Phase). This would entail supporting the project team in project design and compiling progress reports into one joint report.
c)Assist in developing and generating knowledge through the formulation and application of Nature based Solutions and Ecosystem based Adaptation Standards and action learning exercises in select countries.
d)Support coordination under partnerships including PEDRR, the Friends of EbA and the Global Mangrove Alliance, e.g. drafting communications, reviewing joint technical papers, and tracking deliverables.
e)Support the preparatory work on technical/position papers on EbA, and other communications materials.
f)Carry out any other relevant task as assigned by, and agreed with, the line manager
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current student (pursuing at least Bachelors degree; Masters preferred) or have obtained a degree within the past 12 months

• Availability to report for regular business hours (9 AM–5 PM, Mon-Fri) to the IUCN Office in Washington DC, when the office re-opens in January 2022

• Affinity with the vision and mission of IUCN and a strong interest in nature conservation and sustainable development

• Pursuing or holding a relevant university degree in a subject relevant to natural resources management, geography, international development, conservation science, environmental policy, etc.

• Well-developed computer skills (Microsoft Office for Windows, Google Drive, e-mail)

• Good organizational, administrative and reporting skills

• Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs

• Highly motivated to learn and develop new skills, keen to bring in own ideas

• A team player with a strong interest to work in an international environment

• Ability to work in English is essential for this internship
