BACKGROUND
The incumbent will support the Climate Change Team based in Washington, DC in tasks related to the implementation of several global-scale climate change adaptation and sustainable development projects. He or she will provide assistance in reviewing technical documents, communications, and donor deliverables; and in ensuring the timely coordination of activities and reports among IUCN and partner offices.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The incumbent will undertake the following tasks:

a. Provide coordination, administrative and logistical support to the Climate Change team, including planning, scheduling and facilitating meetings, and maintaining accurate records of meetings, including minutes, action items, and follow up items.

b. Support the implementation of the Global EbA Fund, including by preliminary screening of proposals, organizational systems, and answering requests in the general contact email inbox.

c. Provide technical and coordination support in planning and execution of Climate team webinars and events.

d. Support IUCN’s climate-ocean portfolio, including supporting the lead Programme Officers in the coordination of and review of progress reports, planning and execution of workshops and events (in-person and virtual), communications, and drafting and publication of technical papers


e. Production of content/materials for news stories and thought pieces on IUCN’s global adaptation portfolio, as well as for Friends of EbA network publications.

f. Carry out any other relevant task as assigned by, and agreed with, the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current student (pursuing at least Bachelors degree; Masters preferred) or have obtained a degree within the past 12 months

• Availability to report for regular business hours (9 AM–5 PM, Mon-Fri) to the IUCN Office in Washington DC

• Affinity with the vision and mission of IUCN and a strong interest in nature conservation and sustainable development

• Pursuing or holding a relevant university degree in a subject relevant to natural resources management, geography, international development, conservation science, environmental policy, etc

• Well-developed computer skills (Microsoft Office for Windows, Google Drive, e-mail)

• Good organizational, administrative and reporting skills

• Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs

• Highly motivated to learn and develop new skills, keen to bring in own ideas

• A team player with a strong interest to work in an international environment

• Ability to work in English is essential for this internship
